ETA: She's been found and wants to come home! Also removed the pictures as they are no longer needed.

Note - this is not my daughter, I am simply copying and pasting someone else's post.

She may change her destination if she knows she is being looked for. She's supposedly traveling with 2 guys named Tim and Josh, both Caucasian, early 20s or late teens, one with a "cholo tear" tattoo near his eye. She's 5'5", 120#, reddish-blonde hair, long bangs and sidelocks, short in back, always wears her jean vest with studs and patches on it. She may be begging for spare change. If you see her, *please* contact me ( bifemmefatale@livejournal.com ) and the police! 16 is too young to be running around the country on her own. I'm very worried for her safety. Thanks in advance.

ETA: her dad says she left her pack with him, so all she has is what she was wearing: the vest in the pic, a Cannibal Corpse hoodie, a black lace-trimmed cami, jeans and ankle-length black leather boots.

More of an ETA: No new word from or about Mo. The bus she was on does not actually stop in Carbondale. She may have gotten off in St. Louis or Columbia, MO, so any extra eyes in those areas would be welcome. She may go somewhere else entirely now that she knows we are looking for her at the Rainbow Gathering. I have heard that some of her gutterpunk friends are wintering in Texas. She could, frankly, be headed for any city anywhere in the US at this point.

I have left a message for her at 1-800-runaway, and if she calls there they will provide her with a way to get a message to me, conflict mediation, or, if she so chooses, a free ride home.

And another update: Mo was spotted by a couple different people in Murphysboro IL tonight headed for the gathering near Harrisburg!! Please keep looking near there! She is with 2 guys, Tim and Josh. Tim has a tear tattoo and a white supremacist gang tat on his arm. They are probably hitching. Mo is using the alias Valia O'Donnell.

CALL POLICE. Then call me (number written on original poster's LJ - follow the link if you need it)

Reposting from [livejournal.com profile] originalwacky :

Cats from Grayson county humane society are facing euthanization if they can't find fosters or adopters. The volunteers there work super hard not to have to put down any animals, and they are so full right now there are cats in cages and crates in pretty much every room, and still more cats keep coming in. Here is a blog post about some of the cats, with a bunch of pictures: http://originalwacky.blogspot.com/2010/07/cats-in-desperate-need.html
Here is a thread on Petfinder about them as well:
http://www.petfinder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1805393#1805393

If anybody knows of any rescue, or potential adopter who can help, please forward or crosspost this to them. Feel free to crosspost this to any areas dealing with rescued animals (but no craigslist etc please). Transport is often available for distance adopters and rescues. They aren't looking for anybody to take on problem cats, just help get the adoptable ones out, which will give them some breathing room to work on the rest.

I know most of my friends are in the Seattle area, but I have a few who are not. This animal shelter is in Leitchfield, KY.

If you have an adult loved one die, check with all the cemeteries to see if they had pre-purchased things needed for their burial. It's amazing how often people don't check and pay for seconds of everything.

If you can afford it, buy stuff for yourself now. Plots that people purchased in their 20s and are just now using sold back then for under $100, and are now selling for over $2000.

Leave explicit instructions in your will what you want done with your body, and to not do anything different with it later. Otherwise if your surviving spouse re-marries, they may have you dug up, cremated, and keep you in the back of their closet so that they and their new spouse can be buried together in your plot. Or your children may chose to keep your plot for themselves, have you cremated, and stuff you in a closet, or ship you across the country to somewhere you didn't want to be.

Don't ever have a loved one dug up, they will come back to haunt (not literally) the cemetery workers.

Well,

I'm having to quit school for reasons I'd really rather not talk about. I'll be going back in probably 3-5ish years or so, but in the meantime, I'm looking for a job.

An old friend of mine is setting me up an interview to work for Speakeasy in their call center. The pay is great, and they have wonderful benefits. He says that with a recommendation from him, I will definitely get an interview, and he doesn't see any reason I wouldn't be hired, which is good. But, I don't want to just assume it won't be a problem. So, please, say a prayer, light a candle, think good thoughts, send positive energy my way, whatever you happen to believe in.

In the meantime, I get to re-learn everything I ever learned about computers over this weekend and go try and find some decent looking interview clothes at goodwill.

I can't afford a Christmas tree this year. I stopped by the Christmas tree place to see what they were going to do with branches stripped off trees in hopes I could tie a bunch together or something. They pointed me to their garbage pile, which included a bunch of wreaths.

I took a bunch of the wreaths in different sizes, stacked them together to make an approximately Christmas tree shape, and stuck a few branches in the top. It looks kinda like a tree.

Did my son look sad or disappointed, or even say that it wasn't the same? Nope. He smiled, and said "It looks great, you did good, mom!"

I love my kid.

I think

Several years back, I saw someone selling wrought iron hair sticks in the merchant room at norwescon. I can't remember who was selling them. Does anyone know where I could get some?

My son is spending the night with his dad, and there really isn't a damned thing to do. Thought about going to the merc, but without knowing if anyone will be there or not (and it's probably too late to try and find out if anyone is going), I don't want to waste the gas. Anyone have ideas of things to do that don't involve a ton of planning?

But I thought I'd attempt to help promote it anyways :) (school is keeping me to damned busy)

Well, yet once again I find myself at a temp job that actually wants to keep me, but they are hedging cause of the fee the temp agency will charge them. I had an interview today, it seemed to go well, so I'm crossing my fingers. If it wasn't unethical I'd suggest "what they don't know won't hurt them" but I think that would wreck any and all chances I have of getting the job, so I'm gonna keep silent on that. would be only 10 an hour, and it would be 9-6 in SEATTLE with only a 30 min lunch but it's certainly a start...it's been 3 years since I've had a permanent job, and I look forward to possibly being able to know that there is gonna be $ coming in at all times. So, everyone think good thoughts for me?

I've been offered a ride up to the Merc on Sat, and I'm tempted to go. Is anyone planning on being there? I would hate to go and then be stuck only knowing the person I get a ride from.

I have managed to pick up a virus or spyware that I justt CANNOT get rid of. I've been trying like hel for several days, and it just keeps getting worse. And of course, to top it all off, I can no longer get into EQ2 - all I get is a blue screen of death every time I try.

I'm going to wind up wiping my hard drive and re-installing everything. this wouldn't be quite so bad if I actually still had all of my install disks. A while back I had an accadent that broke several of my CDs. *sigh* I think I'm going to go beat my head against a wall.

EQ2 vs WoW

Feb. 10th, 2009 11:58 am
calandria: (ipurr)
So, I think almost everyone I know plays WoW. NO-ONE I know plays Everquest or Everquest 2. this kinda bums me out. Everyone in-game that I know that quit to go play WoW came back saying that WoW was entirely too easy, and that they liked the challenge that the raid and group instances in EQ2 presented. (Personally, I like the graphics a lot better too!)

Sony has just launched a program where long-time members can invite their friends to try a 14-day trial, and if you keep your account after the trial period is over, you don't have to pay for the game itself - just the monthly fee. There are also some in-game goodies that people who start their trial from such an invite get. So, below the cut is the invite e-mail if anyone is interested. (If you try the link and it doesn't work, let me know, and I can have an e-mail sent directly to you)

Where will you go?
calandria: (Default)

I know there are at least 2 people on my friends list who are pregnant or want to be pregnant. I found a website where you can get a free copy of the book "what to expect when you're expecting" I have to say I adored this book when I was pregnant.
