Cats and plastic bags do not mix. How do I know this? My cat got into a bag and tried to get out through the handle. It got stuck on her butt. She was SURE something was attacking her - she ran all around the room as if she thought the hounds of hell were on her ass.

I'm fairly certain DC will bear scars for the rest of his life - a tribute to her valient attempt to escape her certain doom.

I'm sick of seeing snow, snow, and more snow. I have things I need to do, and my car can't be trusted in snow or ice with the problems it has *sigh* At least all the snow happened after school was over for the quarter. I'm starting to get a bit of cabin fever from being stuck inside though.

So, gas prices have dropped dramatically over the past few weeks, and I am seriously contemplating many trips up to Seattle and the Merc over the course of winter break. While the Merc is fun, I really don't want to make it my *only* option of something fun to do. Anyone have any ideas of things that are fun to do in Seattle that don't cost an arm and a leg?

* Grab the nearest book.
* Open the book to page 56.
* Find the fifth sentence.
* Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
* Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST

*sigh* my organic chemistry text book was closest.

Sentence 5 from page 56:
The exact same situation applies to Amines (HNR2).

(Or at least the only replies that I have gotten will be people who can't go.) This makes me sad :(

Oh, well. Perhaps next week more people will be interested in going. I wish that I lived a bit closer or that the cost of gas would go down so that the cost of gas for the trip wouldn't be an issue anymore.

Merc Sat?

I'm seriously considering going to the merc on Sat (I got a new clubbing outfit and I really want to wear it out!). Before I spend the gas $, is anyone planning on being there? I don't want to get there and discover I spent the gas $ for nothing. (also, if there is another event somewhere else that would keep people from being there, that info would be good too!)

Music

So, I realized that people may not have wanted to answer my last post because no-one really knows what kind of music I like. So, instead I will ask in a different way.

What are your 5 favorite artists and/or what are your 10 favorite songs?

Hell, I guess this could turn into a meme.

List your 5 favorite music artists and/or your 10 favorite songs. If you are reading this, place this in your journal so everyone can know what kind of music you like! (Or, if you don't want to post, you can simply reply in comments)

1. Rob Dougan
2. Tori Amos
3. Metallica
4. Rob Zombie
6. The Doors

I finally caved and bought an ipod. I need more music than what I have, and am looking for music suggestions - either tracks or artists. Help? anyone?

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

Post a picture in my comments of what you think describes me when you think about what/who I am.

Give no written explanation though. Just an image. Macros are ok :) (Editorial note: Macros are awesome.)

Copy and paste into your own journal and see what others think about you in pictures!

I had intended to take a rest day today, but I just didn't want to stay home. I wish that I had rested today. My muscles in my legs and arms are REALLY sore. My back and knees still feel incredible though. After class, I was extremely tired, I could barely work up the energy to get in the shower. I think I may just be feeling the effects of three days of an intensive workout all at once. And yes, this yoga at least (I can't speak for any other kind, as I've never tried it) is an extremely intensive workout. Twisting up like a pretzel and holding it for 60 seconds, then switching to another pose with almost no rest in 100+ degrees for 90 minutes at a time is kinda demanding on the body :)

I'm debating if I should take a rest day tomorrow or not. If I do, I'll have two days off in a row, as I won't be able to go on Thursday. If I don't, that will be 4 days in a row when I'm already hurting. I think that a day off would do me a ton of good at this point, but I hate to lose my momentum by having two days off in a row.

Anyone have any advice?

I went to my second class this morning, and my first class at the ungodly hour of 6:30 am (yesterday it was 7:30 am). It wasn't as difficult getting up this morning at 5 am as I thought it would be, I've been getting up at 6:30 am for the past two weeks, so I guess that probably helped a lot. Also, I was really looking forward to class.

The class itself was easier today, I was able to do a couple more of the poses than I managed yesterday, and managed to bend a little further in the ones I did do yesterday. I sweat a lot more due to the heat today than yesterday, but I'm still nowhere near the rivers of sweat that pour down some of the other members in the class.

Again, today i felt absolutely AMAZING after class was finished. I came home, took a shower, and then DC and I headed out to Seattle to spend the day wandering around downtown. This is the first time in years that I have been able to walk all around downtown like that without being sore for days afterwords. I didn't even feel sore minutes afterwords. I was a bit stiff by the time we were done, but a bit of stretching fixed that. I cannot believe how much just two days of yoga have improved my back and knees. (I don't generally talk about it, but I have a touch of arthritis in my knees. nothing horrible, just not fun)

Keeping myself going today helped to alleviate the lethargy that overcame me yesterday I think, so I will keep that in mind, and not stop in the future till the day's activities are finished.

The really odd thing is that I crave water a lot now, and I'm kinda turned off on the idea of junk food. Probably good for me, but I'm kinda sad that the idea of chips or chocolate has me going "ew". I also have to find a new source of caffeine, since I don't want to drink my diet soda much now. I'm thinking about just brewing myself a shot of espresso in the morning and drinking it really fast to get the caffeine in my system without having to spend a lot of time drinking it.

As most of you know, I have herniated disks in my back. I am getting really tired of having to curtail my activities because of the possibility of making my back worse. I started looking for ways to help my back. After much thought and research, I have started going to a yoga class. Today was my first day, and afterwords I felt incredible! After a few hours, I became really tired, but I think that will not be an issue once I get used to it.

The particular type of yoga that I am going to is called Bikram yoga. The big difference between it and normal yoga is that it is done in a 105 degree room with a high humidity. The heat helps to relieve the pain which allows me to do more than I would be able to do in a normal class.

I did get a bit dizzy and light headed during the class, but whether it was because I was breathing deeper than I usually do, or if it was because of the heat, I don't know.

I do know that I want to go again tomorrow. Feeling that good was a really nice way to start off the day.

I will likely be posting more on my yoga experience here. If you do not want to read about it, let me know, and I will create a filter.

For those of you who have friended me on Flickr, I thought I'd explain some pictures I am in the process of uploading. Yes, you will see several pictures of me obviously pregnant, or with a baby or younger child. No, I am not having another child (ever) nor did I have one in the recent past. I am in the process of scanning all of my old hard copy photos and uploading them (How in the world did I ever survive without a digital camera?!?)

For those of you who haven't friended me on Flickr, and are curious, all of my photos (old and new) can be found here

[Error: unknown template qotd] 1. Cure all people of any physical maladies (Which if taken the way that I mean it would get rid of all current disease, disfigurement, and misshapenness) this would still allow there to be germs in the world, but only those that could survive outside the human body. The immune system needs the germs to fight.

2. instill a desire to be nice to all of mankind into everyone (Just ending war, ending abuse, etc wouldn't do it - because they always have the possibility to come back. now, if everyone was born with the desire to be nice to everyone else, those things just wouldn't happen.)

3. Prove to the world for good who god really is and what religion is correct.

[Error: unknown template qotd]Gift Cards. Seriously - can you imagine how much money in gift cards you could manage to grab in three minutes? If I emptied out that section, I would probably head for the meat isle. That's probably the most expensive thing when I do my shopping.
